
SPIELMAN was born in Tulsa Oklahoma, graduated from Tulsa Central High School, attended Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri, graduated 1972. Spending most of his senior year in Vienna, Austria studying art and art history.
PHOTOGRAPHY
After graduation SPIELMAN moved to New Orleans wanting to start his freelance career. Working independently from the beginning, SPIELMAN has traveled the world; assignments and personal work have taken him to six of the seven continents. His work is varied. His corporate clients include many Fortune 500 companies and many smaller, local and international concerns. Projects in Ireland, Moscow, Central America and Asia have given SPIELMAN the opportunities to travel the world and shoot images of globe leaders and many exciting and wonderful places.
Two books have been published of his work. Southern Writers features 72 portraits of some of the South's best authors. Eudora Welty, Pat Conroy and James Dickey are just a few of the images in this book. Most of the images are shot in the writer's workspaces, offering a glimpse into their private lives and the creative process of their work. His portraits are not over produced but are natural allowing the viewers to see the subject in a real, genuine setting. All of these images were taken within a 210-day period affording the viewers the opportunity to see these writers at the same time'understanding the age differences between each other.
